Curiosity isn’t gone. It’s just buried.
There’s a moment that sneaks up on a lot of people mid-career.
You’re good at what you do. Reliable, trusted even The one people go to when things need to get done right.
And yet… something feels flat.
It’s not burnout exactly, but not boredom either. Just a quiet sense that you’re no longer stretching in the way you used to.
In my experience, the missing link is often not motivation. It’s curiosity.
Early in your career, curiosity is everywhere. You ask questions, try things, follow threads just to see where they go. But over time, we trade curiosity for efficiency. We stop exploring and start executing.
It might make you effective, but can also make you stuck.
So here’s a simple reset. A 5-question challenge to help you reignite that curiosity—without blowing up your routine.
Take 10 minutes and ask yourself:
1️⃣ What have I stopped questioning?
A process, a habit, even your own role. What feels “set in stone” that might not be?
2️⃣ What am I doing on autopilot?
Where are you coasting on competence instead of stretching your thinking?
3️⃣ What’s something I’ve been meaning to explore but haven’t?
A skill, a tool, a conversation. The thing that keeps getting pushed to “later.”
4️⃣ Who sees the world differently than I do?
Whose perspective could challenge how you think about your work?
5️⃣ What would I try if I didn’t need it to be perfect?
Curiosity thrives in low-pressure environments. Where can you experiment, just a little?
Curiosity doesn’t just make work more interesting. It makes you more visible, more adaptable, and more future-ready… without needing a new title or role.
So here’s a reframe to reflect on this week:
Where in your work have you been choosing certainty over curiosity?
Until next time…
